Dad

Artist's Statement
Gerry Sr. - He loved the ocean and boats. A Coast Guard Lieutenant in the Philippines during WWII, he sailed the Caribbean, fished off the waters of Key West (with not a whole lot of luck), was a Cruising Club of America member and owned a boat marina in New Hampshire.
He had a quick wit, a dry sense of humor and a presence. You knew he was in the room. My Dad.
Some funny things happened when I was working on this quilt. I would rip-out an area and say 'Sorry Dad'. Some mornings I walked by the quilt and would say "Hey Dad, you're looking good today". If I didn't think it was working, I would say 'Oh well, Dad.' There were many conversations. Still are as I pass it in the house.
